Trafficking of African Women & Children Discussed

Read Local News Article' listBy Adeeba Folami The plight of African women and children caught in the international web of human trafficking was the subject of a forum sponsored by the Colorado Committee on Africa and the Caribbean, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the National Council of Negro Women. Saturday at Johnson & Wales University Events Center guest speaker Shirley Barnes used her years of experience raising awareness of the illicit activity to enlighten the small gathering. The former U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar now serves as President of the Barnes Findley Foundation (BFF) which promotes education and employment for African girls and women. Through the Washington, D.C. based organization Barnes also works with African embassies, officials and groups to combat the trafficking that occurs on the continent. Continue Reading

Adidas Sued Over Missy Elliot Line

Read Entertainment News Article' list A lawsuit has been filed against German sporting goods maker Adidas-Salomon AG by an anti-domestic violence charity alleging its name and logo were used improperly on a line of clothing by rapper Missy Elliott.
In a lawsuit filed March 16 in federal court in Manhattan, the charity, Break the Cycle, is seeking $10 million from Adidas for use of its trademark, name or logo on more than 40 products in its Missy Elliott "Respect ME" clothing line without formal permission. More Entertainment News
